One thousand more shutter clicks

It appears that acquisition of K10D made me significantly more trigger happy. I noticed that I crossed the 2000 frames mark already.

Park Sorek gallery is here for your enjoyment.

K10D, 1000 shots thereafter

I've crossed the 1000 frame count on my K10D. Pentax produced truly wonderful camera. The image quality is outstanding. I must say that compared to *istD, which was no slouch either, K10D is way ahead.

Here is a short gallery I compiled from my most recent trip to Haifa.

More K10D impressions

It is slightly less than a month that I have K10D. Here is a list of things that particularly impress me about this camera:

1. It is fast. Having finally bought SandDisk Extreme III x133 card I can attest to the speed of the camera. There is virtually no delay in any operation. It feels like a glove - fluently continuing my hand and eye.

2. AF seems to be really accurate on my sample. I made few shots of a printed sheet of paper and it seems that it focuses correctly. There is however one gotcha. My camera seems to prefer the middle lower and center sensors. This in turn usually results to front focus. It is not like front focus by millimeters but front focus on the object that is on foreground of the frame. Not a big deal if you ask me.

3. The auto white balance is really good and it is consistent!

4. My older AF200T flash only works at full power because camera offers no TTL integration. However given the speed at which it works it is not really difficult to find proper aperture number in fully manual (M) mode.

All in all, I am very happy about my camera. It is indeed a very big step or may be even a leap from *istD and its siblings.

Enter K10D

Hurray! Yesterday (Thursday, Dec 28th, 2006) I received my K10D. Everything seems to be in order. This thing is big and man, the manual is huge. It seems to me now that some of the functions I will probably not use for a long time if ever. But, after two days of shooting with it just for fun I should admit that *istD has finally been surpassed. K10D is like a soft breeze in your hands - you don't think of anything but the shot. Also, admittedly the colors that come out of it are rather natural and I find myself tweaking them at RAW processing time very little and some times I would just leave white balance as it is - well done, Pentax.

Here are few shots I made...

This little Santa used to have a cow head. The trade symbol of Elite company in Israel is a cow. So they just took of one head and planted in another one. Isn't it funny?

"Galia, do not play with the chopsticks, will you please?!" ;-)

By the way both are shot with SMC FA 31/1.8 AL Limited lens that fits rather big K10D perfectly. On *istD it would feel just a tad large. Here it feels just right. Though now of course SMC FA 43/1.9 Limited feels a bit small ;-).

More is surely to come...
